I usually avoid my childhood heroes just in case … but when you get a chance to see a performance from a legend and enigma like Adam Ant you don’t turn it down. The show was so good that I’ll be heading to another very soon, but this time without a camera so I can just soak up the tunes. Respect.
Not, as you might expect, a music photographer. Hector is a fetish/fashion photographer who taught me to strive for technical perfection (and how to do it), something that is lost in this digital age. I don’t have any images of my own of Hector so I’ve borrowed one of his, the only image on my site that I did not shoot. Please note that Hector’s site may not be suitable for your place of work, if it isn’t then please change your job.
Hamlet responded to an old-fashioned ‘wanted’ ad that I’d placed in a guitar shop. Chris first approached me for promo shots of his band. We then worked together on various projects that ultimately led to me exhibiting regularly with the great rock photographers of our time.
Many great things that started in Ireland were nurtured and encouraged within the pages of Hotpress Magazine. Hiring me on the strength of a cheeky phone-call that I made one day around 11 years ago, I went on to shoot over a dozen covers for them and honed my skills at the coal-face of the Irish music industry.
